Zoë McIntosh is an award-winning filmmaker whose work spans feature documentaries, narrative shorts, and commercial campaigns.
Her most recent feature, Stylebender, charts the meteoric rise of Israel Adesanya. The film premiered at Tribeca Film Festival, where it was nominated for Best Documentary, and Zoë received a nomination for Best New Director.
Her dramatic short film, The World in Your Window, earned widespread international acclaim, winning Best International Short Film at seven major A-list festivals and qualifying for Academy Award consideration.
Zoë currently has two documentaries in production: a feature documentary funded by the New Zealand Film Commission exploring a global sexuality movement, and a documentary series for TVNZ following the world of modern-day preppers, due to air in September.
In the commercial space, Zoë has directed campaigns for leading global and local brands. Her bold YWCA spot addressing equal pay won the Cannes Lions Young Director Award. She has also helmed long-form branded documentaries for Netflix, BBC, SBS, and MasterClass.
Beyond her directing work, Zoë is a passionate mentor and consultant to emerging filmmakers, dedicated to guiding the next generation of storytellers.
“Anyone who works with Zoë will tell you she has a ceaseless gift for scouting out-of-whack characters from the edges of society who reflect the human condition we all share. Her true magic lies in going beyond their oddness to find the path to great storytelling—heroing the emotional layers beneath and revealing the beauty and pathos within.”
